With over 140 million records sold worldwide and over 70 million in the United States, Bruce Springsteen, described by Rolling Stone as "the epitome of rock'n'roll", is one of the best-selling artists in the world. Long regarded as an unsurpassed touring act, Springsteen and The E Street Band's 2023 international tour is the first concert tour since the conclusion of The River Tour in 2017 - a fourteen-month tour that was named the best world tour of 2016 by Billboard and Pollstar magazines - and kicked off in February 2023 with a series of concerts in American arenas. The 2023 tour then continued in Europe in the spring and summer and returned to North America for the second leg in August. Supported by The E Street Horns and The E Street Choir, Springsteen and The E Street Band's 2023 European Tour sold over 1.6 million tickets - earning widespread acclaim as one of the best shows of the band's career, recognized by Billboard magazine as "the best show in the world" and "one of the best shows ever" by The Daily Telegraph, as well as five-star reviews from The Times, The Independent, NME and many others. Highlights included a two-day kick-off in Barcelona that "unleashed the euphoria", as El Correo confirmed, as well as performances for more than 130,000 fans during two concerts in London's Hyde Park and a closing night for more than 70,000 people in Monza, Italy. The 14-country tour included several dates in Barcelona, Dublin, Paris, Amsterdam, Gothenburg, Oslo, London and Copenhagen. Springsteen has won 20 Grammy Awards, an Oscar, two Golden Globes and a special Tony Award. In 1999, Springsteen was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame - followed by The E Street Band in 2014 - and they were also inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. In 2013, he received the Kennedy Center Honors - and in 2016, President Barack Obama awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civilian award. In 2023, Springsteen was also honored at the White House by President Joe Biden with the 2021 National Medal of Arts. Before the success and awards, the die-hard New Jersey native first put together The E Street Band on the state's beaches and boardwalk clubs - with many members who joined him they still perform today. In 1999, after a ten-year hiatus, Springsteen reunited The E Street Band for a historic series of concerts documented in the HBO special, DVD and album "Live in New York City." Since the E Street reunion tour, Springsteen has toured consistently - mostly with a band. Highlights include 2004's Vote for Change benefit tour, 2002's The Rising Tour - including a record ten nights at Giants Stadium - as well as 2012's Wrecking Ball World Tour and 2016's The River Tour, which became the highest-grossing tours of their respective flight. Springsteen is one of only four artists to have sold more than 20 million tickets since 1980, according to Pollstar magazine.
